THE LADY BEHIND THE LENS
Aloha! I’m Sadie, and whilst I’m not Hawaiian - I have used the greeting “Aloha” since high school, most likely inspired by a teenage favourite film ‘blue crush’! (cue me covering my face with embarrassment) It is such a beautiful word, meaning love and compassion. I deeply resonate with what Aloha represents - a spiritual “breath of life”, kindness and living in unity with others and nature.
I am very family orientated and since having a little niece come into my life - I have felt a whole new meaning of love. I’m fortunate to have a close-knit group of friends I’ve known since school, whose children also call me “Auntie Sadie.” I love meeting new people and sharing similar interests within the outdoor community; including biking, hiking and skiing.
I spend my spare time being the adventure bean I am - travelling, bike-packing and finding excitement in exploring new ground- always with my camera in hand! I embrace creativity in day to day life and absolutely love inspiring others to get outdoors and connect with nature. In my late twenties, I spent 6 years living in the French Alps (Morzine/ Avoriaz & Les Gets). As cliché as it sounds - I completely “found myself” during this time. There’s a magic you feel from living in the mountains, a feeling like no other. I treasure those moments and visit whenever I can, It’s my second home.
Home for me now is the picturesque town of Bewdley in Worcestershire, where I was born & raised. Being in the heart of England means I’m lucky to be central to most places. From here, I’ve travelled extensively to photograph destination weddings and events across France, Scotland, Wales, Sweden, and Spain.
My love for photography began at a very young age, inspired by my father - who is also a photographer. He is the reason I first picked up a camera, and the reason I learned to see beauty in everything.
I am so thankful for all the memories he has captured throughout our family life, I would (and still do) find myself sat on my bed surrounded by printed photos, spending hours looking through gorgeous memories and feeling all the emotions - whether its seeing my first steps, dancing with my little brother or remembering my grandparents. Sooner or later, these photos are all we have left of a memory, a moment, a person.
I have always been - and always will be - the one who takes the photos.
